Buldozer

A buldozer (or bull dozer) is heavy earth moving equipment used to push large quantity of earth, rocks etc. A new bulldozer is widely used at construction sites, mining, road building, tunnelling operations. Bull dozers are fitted with a heavy metal plate which is called blade. Some heavy machines are also fitted with a huge metal claw like structure at the rear called a ripper. Ripper helps a bulldoser to loosen heavy blocks of soil so that it can be pushed off easily. For this reason rippers are fitted with tracked wheels.

Bull dozer (or buldozer) evolved from farm tractors which were used to plough fields. They were also used for pushing logs and at road construction sites to push huge boulders. Heavily armoured version of bull dozers found use by the military during the World War I. The driver's cabin was usually on the top then without any cover. The bulldoser pushes the blade as it slowly advances. The blade then removes the layer of the soil and pushes ahead. The blades of a new bulldozer are made of very heavy metal for this purpose.

Later, hydraulic cylinders were used to assist the bull dozers instead of just the weight of the blade. This design found favour with the bulldoser operators in excavation sites. As the demand for more powerful bull dozer (or buldozer) was desired, the machines became bigger and more powerful to suit the heavy earthworks. The new bulldozer is a result of years of research and improvements and is very sophisticated equipment. Bull dozers are very powerful and tracked heavy equipment. The bulldoser tracks are designed for good ground hold and mobility in any terrain. A bull dozer (or buldozer) with a wide track is used to clear obstacles or debris with ease.

A new bulldozer sometimes has a blade with reinforced centre section. They are widely used to remove soil from high grounds and fill the shallow grounds. Most bull dozers have a blade and a ripper at primary tool. An armored buldozer (or bull dozer) also finds military usage. Armour is provided to protect the driver from enemy fire. Such a bulldoser can also operate in the battle zone. A lightweight new bulldozer is commonly used for snow removal to clear the roads.
